Student Life at Edgewood

Weekly School Bulletin August 19, 2017

Good Afternoon Edgewood IB Families,

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation during drop off and pick up times.  The safety of our children is most important.  Please ensure that your student is on campus on a daily basis by 7:30 am, this will also assist with avoiding the a.m. traffic. Also, we are expecting some schedule changes to occur and we appreciate your patience. The peak of the solar eclipse will take place on Monday after 10 am, attached are some safety precautions for us to follow. Please join us for our 1st Coffee/Tea with the Principal event this Friday at 10 am in the media center.  This will be a great opportunity to meet and greet our on-campus School Resource Officer Jeremy Neal.  Lastly, our Back to School Night is on Wednesday, September 6 beginning at 5 pm with food trucks.  We expect to see you all there.

This information is also available on our websites. Have a great weekend, from Edgewood the Pride of West Covina.

At Edgewood IB Schools, all students are International Baccalaureate students.  Our students are provided a rigorous, high-quality education, which will challenge them to excel in their studies, and encourage both personal and academic achievements through an internationally minded approach.

We were able to achieve great acknowledgements at Edgewood last year.  Here are just a few accomplishments that I’d like to take a moment to highlight:

We will continue to work together during the 2017-18 school year to resume the legacy of success established at Edgewood and provide our students every opportunity to become more internationally minded, ready to compete and succeed in the new global economy through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes offered.   We will accomplish this by infusing the elements of the IB Learner Profile, setting high academic expectations for all students, and providing supportive systems to assure they are met. We will focus on developing 21st Century skills, establishing a rigorous and engaging IB curriculum, increasing access to college and career pathways, creating a culture of success, fostering a safe and positive school climate, and engaging all stakeholders in the educational process.

The entire Edgewood staff and I are looking forward to a productive and meaningful 2017-2018 school year. Lastly, as your Principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to stop in or contact me to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet!
